Maryland Judge Andrew Wilkinson Assassinated in Targeted Attack: Suspect Sought

Tragedy Strikes as Esteemed Maryland Judge, Andrew Wilkinson, Becomes Victim of Targeted Attack

In a shocking and targeted act of violence, Maryland Judge Andrew Wilkinson was fatally shot on his driveway Thursday night, sending shockwaves through the community. Authorities are on the hunt for the suspected shooter, Pedro Argote, whose motive is believed to be linked to a recent custody loss in a divorce case presided over by Judge Wilkinson.

Wilkinson, a dedicated public servant, served as the Washington County Circuit Court Associate Judge, and his tragic death has prompted a homicide investigation.

Washington County Sheriff Brian Albert identified Pedro Argote, a 49-year-old man, as the prime suspect and urged the public to exercise caution as Argote is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities have appealed for any information on Argote’s whereabouts and advised against approaching him directly.

The horrifying incident unfolded following a court hearing in which Argote lost custody of his children, a proceeding presided over by Judge Wilkinson. While the exact number of children involved remains undisclosed, this loss of custody served as a catalyst for the deadly attack.

Maryland State police took precautionary measures to deploy troopers to protect judges residing in Washington County, although authorities now believe there is no immediate threat to other judges in the area.

Judge Andrew Wilkinson had been serving as a member of the 4th Judicial Circuit since January 2020, and his commitment to community service and justice was evident throughout his career.
